Erdene Zuu Monastery is the first Buddhist monastery was founded by Avtai Sain Khaan, a descendant of Chinggis Khaan, on the ruins of Kharkhorin in 1586. The monastery is surrounded by beautiful looking white walls with 108 stupas. For centuries it was a spiritual and intellectual centre of Mongolia with an extraordinary collection of Buddhist paintings, priceless religious objects. Special dresses for Tsam religious dance and excellently made Buddhist iconography. The monastery is located 80 km drive from the Hoyor Zagal camp.
There are beautiful rocks which have carvings scripts on 5 kms from the tourist camp. The carved scripts are dated back to the 15th century and have a wonderful Buddhist letters.
The Shiree Lake is located 22 km from the tourist camp. Enlightened Zanabazar, a great philosopher, artist, sculptor, poem writer of Mongolia was honored as a Bogd Gegeen and a religious leader of Mongolia at the age of five in this legendary place. The landscape of the surrounding environment is breathtaking with combination of Gobi desert, steppe and forest. It is considered as a capital city of Mongolia under the name of Shar Bust Urguu. Sacred white stupa was erected on the shore of the lake which was destroyed in the 1930s but later restored.
The central point of the territory of Mongolia is located 52 from the tourist camp to the south east with a latitude of 46’52 and longitude of 103’50. The place is unique for its spring called Uvur Khushuut.
Majestic Khungu Khaan Mountain us located 25 km from the tourist camp. The mountain was a sacred place from an ancient time. A man who passes by Khadagt Khusuu, a place on the southern part of the mountain must stop to greet and share his offerings.
The mountain has ruins of ancient monastery. Enlightened Bogd Gegeen Zanabzar, a religious leader, and sculptor was founded these Uvgun and Zaluu temples for his religious teacher. The soldiers of Oirad destroyed the monasteries and assassinated the monks in 1688. One of the temple was restored in 1994.
